Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat is one of the total 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana. It was made a constituency in the first Lok Sabha elections held in 1952. This Lok Sabha seat is also the headquarters of Karimnagar district. In the 2019 elections, BJP’s Bandi Sanjay Kumar had won the Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat. In the 2014 elections, Vinod Kumar Bainapali of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (now BRS) had become the MP from this seat.
Triangular battle at Karimnagar
This seat is dominated by three political parties – Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress and Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS). This time BRS will try to give its full strength to this Lok Sabha seat and take back the seat which it lost to BJP in 2019. At the same time, Congress is also confident of winning this Lok Sabha seat after forming the government in Telangana in the recently held assembly elections. BJP is also trying to repeat the victory in Karimnagar. Therefore, the contest on Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat is going to be triangular.

Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency currently consists of 7 assembly constituencies. The total population here is 20,54,293, out of which 79 percent people live in villages and 20 percent people live in cities. The total number of voters in Karimnagar in 2019 was 11,47,697. Out of which total male voters were 5,58,800 and female voters were 5,88,108. In 2019, the total voting here was 69.49 percent.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the total number of voters here was 15,50,834, out of which only 11,25,691 people voted. Of these, the number of men was 5,52,489 and the number of women was 5,73,202. In 2014, a total of 72.69 percent votes were cast. Talking about caste demarcation, 19 percent population here belongs to SC and 2 percent population belongs to ST category.
Election results of year 2019
BJP’s captive Sanjay Kumar had won from Karimnagar seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Sanjay had defeated Boyapalli Vinod Kumar of TRS by about 90 thousand votes. Whereas in 2019, Congress’s Ponnam Prabhakar got only 1,79,258 votes on this seat.

Election results of year 2014
Vinod Kumar Boynapalli of TRS (now BRS) won the election from Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency. He got 5,05,358 votes. Boynapalli defeated Congress’s Ponnam Prabhakar by 2,04,652 votes.
