The demand for the resignation of CM Siddaramaiah, who is facing investigation in the land allotment case, is now gaining momentum. After Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot gave permission to register a case against the Chief Minister, both the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress have come face to face. Today, the Bharatiya Janata Party held a strong protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in the assembly premises demanding the immediate resignation of the Chief Minister. Siddaramaiah has filed a writ petition against the Governor’s prosecution and it is being heard.
During this protest, he was reminded of Siddaramaiah’s statement of 2011, in which the then Governor Hansraj Bhardwaj had given permission to prosecute the then Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, then Siddaramaiah had asked Yeddyurappa to resign immediately, saying that a fair investigation cannot be conducted while he is in office.
Resignation sought from Siddaramaiah
All the leaders participating in the protest reminded Siddaramaiah of his statement and demanded that just like Yeddyurappa resigned from the post of Chief Minister in 2011 and faced investigation, Siddaramaiah should also resign immediately for a fair investigation. The Bharatiya Janata Party also questioned the Congress high command on Rahul Gandhi and party national president Mallikarjun Kharge for supporting Siddaramaiah in this matter.
