Assembly elections are going to be held in Maharashtra by the end of this year. The constituent parties of the Maha Vikas Aghadi are putting pressure on each other. Uddhav Thackeray, who is leading the Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray Sena faction, has told the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party Sharadchandra Pawar that the face of the Chief Minister should be decided among the allies before the assembly elections. He has also said that if you want, you can not announce that name publicly.
Uddhav Thackeray has informed the Congress and NCP leadership about this. Thackeray is trying to put pressure on both the parties to either select a candidate for the post of Chief Minister or accept his name. Uddhav constantly raises this issue in meetings with them and also repeats it publicly.
Uddhav Thackeray had said in the last meeting with Congress and NCP, “I do not want our experience with BJP to be repeated. We were together for 25-30 years and we agreed that the party winning the most seats will become the Chief Minister. By this logic, if you win more seats, you will become the Chief Minister. So I will bring you down in numbers. In such a situation, what is the purpose of the alliance?”
Earlier, a Congress leader had said that the main criterion for seat sharing for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections among the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) constituents would be winnability and it would be worked out amicably at the earliest. Congress’ Maharashtra unit working president Naseem Khan had told PTI that the MVA is already in election and campaign mode and it has already held a joint meeting of its office bearers on August 16.
He said, “The probability of victory will be the basis for seat sharing among the allies and it will be worked out in an amicable manner as soon as possible.” Expressing confidence in the MVA’s victory, Khan said, “The results of the Lok Sabha elections will definitely be repeated in the assembly elections.” He claimed that the false promises and fake talks of the ruling ‘Mahayuti’ (comprising Shiv Sena, BJP and NCP) have been exposed.
