Unique tradition of Chhathi Puja before birth in Gokul
Pandit Amit Bhardwaj tells that on Janmashtami, the day before Krishna Janmotsav, the Chhathi Pujan of Balkrishna is performed in Gokul. Apart from Nanda Fort in Gokul, Chhathi Pujan is performed in every house a day before. According to a legend, mother Yashoda and Nandbaba were so engrossed in the love for the child that they forgot to perform Chhathi Pujan. When Balkrishna’s first birthday came, they remembered that Lala’s Chhathi was not worshipped. Therefore, they performed Chhathi Pujan of Kanha before the first birthday. This tradition is still observed traditionally in Gokul.
Saptami Tithi will end at 8.20 am
Astrologers say that on Janmashtami, there will be a combination of Jayanti Yog, Bav Karan, Taurus Lagna, Rohini Nakshatra along with Sarvartha Siddhi Yog. On this day, along with Shri Krishna, Mata Devki, Vasudev, Baldev, Nand, Yashoda will be worshipped. On 26th August, Monday, Saptami Tithi will end at 8.20 pm and Ashtami Tithi will start and Rohini Nakshatra will also start from 9.10 pm. In this way, Ashtami Tithi-Rohini Nakshatra is creating Jayanti Yog. This auspicious time will be from 12.01 to 12.45 midnight of 26th August.
