what did you claim

Mukherjee claimed that the Vande Bharat Express, which ran parallel to the Tejas Express and had the same destination, reached Ahmedabad first. He wrote on the post, “We were left to our own devices. Vadodara is flooded. There is no place to go. There are elderly and children in this train. If Vande Bharat train can go from Vadodara to Ahmedabad, why can’t other trains? Don’t know what is going to happen. No official came to talk to us. They just switched off the AC and left, thinking we would get out. Some people opened the auto-closing door so that we could breathe.” The user shared the post on August 27. Since then, it has received more than three lakh views. What answer did the railway give

Indian Railways also responded to the post and wrote, ‘Water was flowing over the track. Vande Bharat’s higher clearance and electrical equipment allow it to enter water. This train can run if there is more than 200 mm of water on the track. Engines of other trains (apart from Vande Bharat) do not have such clearance and cannot be operated if the water level above the track is more than 150 mm. We request you to please share the travel details (PNR/UTS number) and mobile number with us, through DM. You can also write your problem directly on http://railmadad.indianrailways.gov.in or dial 139 for immediate solution.’

what did the people say

One user wrote, ‘Very scary! One day of heavy rains exposes our shortcomings. Vadodara received torrential rains today. But the railways are expected to be prepared for this situation. Constant communication is needed so that passengers do not panic.’ Another user wrote, ‘I hope this painful journey ends on a good note and you reach home safely.’ The third user wrote, ‘You have a blue tick on your profile so the reply came. We were told at 1.30 am late night that our train has been cancelled.’
