The upcoming season of the Caribbean Premier League, a franchise-based T20 league in the West Indies, will begin on August 29. Just before the start of the new season, the St. Lucia Kings team has suffered a major setback in the form of explosive wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen, who will not participate in this T20 league this season due to personal reasons. The St. Lucia Kings team has also announced a replacement for Heinrich Klaasen after he is out. The Kings finished third after the league stage last season and then their season ended with a defeat in the eliminator match.
Tim Seifert replaces Henrik Klaasen
In place of Heinrich Klaasen, New Zealand’s aggressive batsman Tim Seifert will now be seen playing for the St Lucia Kings in the upcoming Caribbean Premier League season. In the year 2020, Seifert played for the Trinbago Knight Riders team, who also won the title that season. Klaasen was part of the St Lucia Kings team just before the players draft of CPL 2024. Apart from Klaasen, some changes have also been seen in other teams, in which the Knight Riders have roped in USA player Andris Gaus, who is going to be a part of the team for the first 4 matches. Actually, Tim David will not be able to join the team in the first few matches of CPL 2024, so Gaus will be a part of the team in his place till then.
Sikandar Raza ruled out of the entire season due to injury
Zimbabwe team captain Sikandar Raza will also not be seen playing in CPL 2024, in fact Raza has taken this decision due to injury, which he informed by posting on the social media platform X. At the same time, David Miller and Keshav Maharaj, playing for the Barbados Royals team, will not be seen playing in the first 2 matches as they will attend the Cricket South Africa awards ceremony to be held on 5 September.
