The central government gave a big gift to the farmers on Monday. The Union Cabinet approved an expenditure of about Rs 14,000 crore for 7 major programs related to the agriculture sector. This also includes a digital agriculture mission and a scheme for crop science. This decision was taken in the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave information about the decisions taken in the cabinet. Let us tell you which 7 big programs were announced…
1. The Union Cabinet approved the Digital Agriculture Mission worth Rs 2,817 crore.
2. A scheme of Rs 3,979 crore was approved for crop science.
3. A programme of Rs 2,291 crore was announced to strengthen agricultural education and management.
4. A scheme of Rs 1,702 crore for sustainable health of livestock was also approved.
5. The Cabinet also approved another scheme of Rs 860 crore for sustainable development of horticulture sector.
6. The Union Cabinet has approved Rs 1,202 crore for Krishi Vigyan Kendras.
7. A scheme of Rs 1,115 crore was also approved to strengthen natural resource management.
In this way, the total allocation for these seven programs related to the agriculture sector is more than Rs 13,960 crore. Ashwini Vaishnav said about this, ‘Today in the cabinet meeting, 7 major decisions have been taken to improve the lives of farmers and increase their income. The first among them is the Digital Agriculture Mission. It is being developed on the lines of the structure of digital public infrastructure for agriculture. Some good pilot projects have been started and we have got success. On the basis of that, Digital Agriculture Mission will be established with a total investment of Rs 2,817 crore.’
