AFG vs NZ Only Test: These days Greater Noida of Uttar Pradesh is in the news in the cricket world. The reason is the only test match between Afghanistan and New Zealand. This match was supposed to start on 9th September but three days have passed and the game has not started yet. The toss could not take place as the ground was wet due to rain. This is the reason why Greater Noida’s Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Stadium has become a topic of discussion on social media.

The first day of the only test match between AFG vs NZ was spent waiting for the ground to dry and then the heavy rain in the evening of the second day completed the remaining work. Thus the third day’s play was also cancelled. This is a big blow for the cricket fans of Afghanistan who had reached the stadium in large numbers to watch this match but have been yearning to see a ball for the last 3 days.

An interesting incident happened after 19 years

The third day of this match also ended without any play. With this, a unique sight was seen in Test cricket on Indian soil after 19 years. In fact, this is the third time in Test matches played on Indian soil that not a single ball was bowled in the first three days. Earlier this sight was seen 21 years ago in the year 2005. This match was played in Chennai between the host team India and Sri Lanka. In this match, not a single ball could be bowled in the first three days. An interesting coincidence is that in this match, former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni made his Test debut.

match ended in a draw

In this match, not a single ball was bowled for the first 3 days and then the game started on the fourth day. In this match, India batting first, was all out for just 167 runs. Dhoni’s 30 runs came from his bat in this match. Virender Sehwag scored the highest 36 runs. Chaminda Vaas took the highest 4 wickets from Sri Lanka’s side. In reply to India’s 167 runs, Sri Lanka scored 168 runs by losing 4 wickets on the last day and the match was drawn.
