Afghanistan announced squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa.

The Afghanistan cricket team is to host three ODIs against South Africa from September 18, for which the 17-member team was announced by the Afghan Cricket Board on September 12. For this series, Afghanistan’s team has seen the return of their star leg-spinner Rashid Khan, who will be seen playing in this format after the ODI World Cup in 2023. At the same time, opening batsman Ibrahim Zadran and spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman are not part of the team in the series against South Africa, who have not been selected due to injury.

Abdul Malik got reward for his good performance

For the ODI series against South Africa, Abdul Malik has been included in the Afghanistan team as a cover player in place of Ibrahim Zadran, who has shown a very good performance in List A cricket in the recent past. Darwish Rasooli, who has played 7 T20 International matches so far, has also been selected in the team for this ODI series due to his excellent performance in domestic cricket. Announcing the team, Afghanistan Cricket Board CEO Naseeb Khan said that hosting the South African team for the first time is a big achievement for Afghanistan cricket. They are a strong team and we are very excited to play the ODI series against them.

Hashmatullah Shahidi (captain), Rahmat Shah, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ikram Alikhil, Abdul Malik, Riaz Hassan, Darwish Rasooli, Azmatullah Umarzai, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Rashid Khan, Nangeyalia Kharote, AM Ghazanfar, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Bilal Sami, Naveed Zadran, Fareed Ahmed.
