The train was sent off after removing the pillar but senior officials reached the spot and started investigation. The Superintendent of Police and GRP SP reached the spot and inspected the situation.
Earlier, a conspiracy was hatched to overturn the train by placing a wooden boat on the track in Ghazipur. A cylinder and a bottle filled with petrol were kept in Kanpur. The police is also in alert mode due to the continuous incidents. It is said that on Wednesday night, someone had placed a heavy iron electric pole on the track between pillar number 45/10 and 11 on the railway line passing behind Balwant Enclave Colony of the city area from the Rudrapur border.
Meanwhile, train number 12091 Kathgodam Dehradun Express was going back from Dehradun to Kathgodam on the same track. The loco pilot of the train was shocked when he saw an electric pole on the railway line. He immediately applied emergency brakes and stopped the train and informed the authorities about the matter. With the help of fellow railway workers, the pole was also removed from the track.
It is said that the express train was supposed to reach Rudrapur railway station at 9:45. However, it was running 10 minutes late. The train reached Rudrapur railway station Uttarakhand at 10:15. Then the loco pilot of the train informed the station superintendent and GRP about the matter. On receiving the information, local police and GRP police reached the spot. Along with this, CO Ravi Khokhar, Inspector in-charge Balwan Singh reached the spot with policemen.
Superintendent of Police Vidya Kishore Mishra reached the spot and inspected it. He instructed the police personnel to keep an eye on such mischievous elements and take strict action against them. On receiving the information, the GRP Superintendent of Police also reached the spot and inspected it and gave necessary instructions to the GRP police.
