The first ODI match was played between England and Australia at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, in which opener Travis Head set a flurry of records with his brilliant century. Travis Head scored an unbeaten 154 off 129 balls with the help of 20 fours and 5 sixes. Head thus scored his best score in ODIs. Earlier, his best ODI score was 152 runs which he made against England in Melbourne in 2022. In this match, Travis Head got full support from Marnush Labuschagne. There was a partnership of 148 runs for the fourth wicket between Head and Labuschagne, on the basis of which Australia achieved the target of 316 runs with 36 balls to spare. While Head did wonders in batting, Labuschagne created new history with his all-round performance.

Labuschagne has a unique record

Marnus Labuschagne played an unbeaten innings of 77 runs on the strength of 7 fours and 2 sixes in 61 balls. Before this, he also proved his mettle in bowling and hunted three England batsmen. He sent Ben Duckett, captain Harry Brook and Jofra Archer to the pavilion. Apart from this, he also took 4 catches while fielding brilliantly. He caught 2 batsmen on his own ball. In this way, a unique record was registered in the name of Labuschagne.

In fact, Labuschagne has become the first player in the world to score 50+ runs, take 3+ wickets and 4+ catches in a single ODI match. Before Labuschagne, no player had been able to do this big and unique feat in an ODI match. This is the first time in an ODI match that a single player has performed brilliantly in bowling, batting and fielding.

Like Labuschagne, spinner Adam Zampa took 3 wickets in this match. He achieved this great feat while playing his 100th ODI match. In this way, Zampa became the third highest wicket-taking spin bowler after 100 ODI matches. Only Saqlain Mushtaq and Rashid Khan are ahead of him.
