Hockey India League is going to return after 7 years. This time not only men but also women hockey players will be seen participating in the league. This is the reason why star Indian hockey player Rani Rampal is ready to make her mark in the first season of the Women’s Hockey Indian League. However, in this women’s league, she will not be seen as a player but in a new role of mentorship. Rani Rampal, in a special conversation with India TV News on Wednesday, spoke openly about her new role in the Women’s Hockey Indian League. Former Indian captain Surma will be seen in the role of mentor of the hockey club.

Big challenge in front of Rani Rampal

The 29-year-old Indian forward has experience of more than 250 international games and now she is going to start a new chapter in her life. She has won many titles on the hockey field and now she wants to give something back to hockey through her new role. In a special conversation with India TV’s Sports Editor Samip Rajguru, Rani said that this is a new and challenging role for her, because she always wanted to explore new things in her life apart from being a player. She said that she will try to do her best in this new role and share her experiences with the youth to help them in their development.

The two-time Asian Games medalist also talked about the women’s hockey league potentially providing a great platform for young girls. India’s national women’s hockey team has struggled in recent years, but Rani revealed that the new league will play a big role in changing that. She also answered the question as to why she is going to participate in this league not as a player but as a mentor.

League will play an important role in the development of the team

Rani said that of course she had thought about participating in the league as a player, but now she wants to remain associated with the game as a mentor. Rani said that she has already fulfilled her role as a player, but now it is time to see how she plays this mentorship role. He further said that new players need support, especially mental support for the new emerging players in this league. She will try to help them in every possible way which will be very good for the game.

Emphasizing the importance of Hockey India League, Rani said that this league will also play a big role in the development of the Indian women’s hockey team. This will develop the game and help Hockey India in increasing the pool of players. It will provide a great platform for young Indian girls as they aspire to showcase their talents when given the opportunity. There are only four teams right now, but we hope to add more teams in future editions of the Women’s Hockey India League.
