Dehradun: Uttarakhand Madrassa Board is planning to start teaching Sanskrit in madrassas of the state. Under this, more than 400 madrassas will be included in the initial phase. Sanskrit will be kept as optional in these madrassas. Uttarakhand Madarsa Board Chairman Mufti Shamoon Qasmi has given this information. He said, “We have been working on this plan for some time. A proposal is being prepared in this regard and if it gets the green signal from the state government, it will be implemented.

Sanskrit option will be beneficial

Uttarakhand Madarsa Board Chairman Mufti Shamoon Qasmi said that this is being done in accordance with the CM’s desire to connect madrassa-going children with mainstream education. He said, “Implementation of NCERT curriculum in Madrasas of the state has yielded very good results this year. The percentage of children passing has also been more than 96. This shows that there is no dearth of talent among the children going to madrassa. If they get a chance, they can prove to be leaders in other subjects including Sanskrit.” Qasmi said that both Arabic and Sanskrit are ancient languages ​​and if the students of madrassas have the option to learn Sanskrit along with Arabic, then it will be in their best interest. Good idea of ​​education in Sanskrit

Uttarakhand Waqf Board Chairman Shadab Shams also said that the idea of ​​implementing Sanskrit education in Madrasas is definitely good, but he wondered what is stopping the Madrasa Board from implementing it. “If he really wants it, he can do it easily,” he said. I do not think that they will face any hurdle in getting approval from the state government in this matter.” He further said that the idea of ​​modern madrassas had come up some time ago in the Waqf Board under his chairmanship.

Will find reason to join the mainstream

Shadab Shams, chairman of Uttarakhand Waqf Board, said, “I think religious education is important, but limiting children to only religious education is playing with their future.
