Singapore Airlines plane was going to Tokyo, windshield broken in the sky – Hindustan News Hub

Singapore: A Singapore Airlines flight to Tokyo was diverted to Taiwan’s capital Taipei after its windshield broke on Monday. Flight number SQ636 was carrying 249 passengers and 17 crew members. The flight took off from Changi Airport at 11.07 pm on Sunday and was scheduled to land at Haneda Airport in Japan at 6.20 am on Monday.

What did Singapore Airlines spokesperson say?

The Boeing 777-300ER plane was diverted to Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport after the windshield broke mid-flight, Channel News Asia reported. According to the report, a Singapore Airlines spokesperson was quoted as saying that the plane landed at the airport ‘without any incident’. The flight number was changed and the plane will depart from Taipei for Tokyo at 8:30 pm. The spokesperson said that the plane will land at Haneda Airport at 12.30 pm on Monday, with a delay of about 18 hours.

Airlines apologized for the inconvenience

“SIA sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience caused to all affected customers,” a Singapore Airlines spokesperson said. He said that the safety of the airline’s customers and crew is its top priority. According to the news, the airline has arranged hotel accommodation for the affected customers. (Language)
