Thieves have committed a unique incident in Bhanjanagar of Ganjam district of Odisha. Here the thieves entered the house of Bhanjanagar Additional District Sessions Judge and first cooked dosa and drank tea. Not only this, the thieves also washed the utensils and then ran away with clothes, gold ornaments and cash. This unique incident of theft at the judge’s house has attracted everyone’s attention. Such audacity of thieves has become a topic of discussion across the state.

Actually, on October 17, there was theft from the house of Additional District Sessions Judge Devdutt Patnaik. The thieves had entered the house by breaking the ventilator of the judge’s residence. After this, he very courageously cooked and ate food in the judge’s house and also washed the utensils out of fear of being caught so that no one would get suspicious. At the time of the incident, the judge had gone to his village due to puja holidays.
As soon as the matter came to light on November 21, the judge lodged a complaint. As soon as the complaint was registered, the police came into action and immediately started the operation to catch the thieves. While investigating all the facts, the police arrested 2 thieves. The names of the arrested youth are Shiv Malik and Toofan Maharana. Both the thieves have prior criminal history.
This is how both thieves were caught
Giving information about the incident, the police said, “Thieves carried out this incident on October 17 at around 12 o’clock in the morning.” Since the judge was not at home, he was not aware of it. On October 21, the judge registered the complaint and as soon as the case was registered, we started the investigation.” He further said, ”Forensic team and dog squad were also included in the investigation of the case. With the help of cyber police, we found out the location of the phone numbers present near the spot. We detained 2 people from Bhubaneswar on 2 November. When we took both the accused into custody and interrogated them, they confessed to their crime.
Stay at home for 1 hour
Police said that the thieves remained present in the house for about an hour and celebrated the theft in a way. He said that initially Section 331(2), 331(4), 305 of BNS were imposed on the thieves, but when they were produced in the court, the judge declared it an incident of robbery considering the time of the incident. By changing the sections imposed on thieves, now sections 331(1), 333(3), 305, 3(5) of BNS have been imposed on them. Police said that one of these accused has 12 cases registered against him in Ganjam district. There are 10 cases registered against him in Bhanjanagar alone, 1 case in Buguda and 1 case in Khallikot, hence these people are habitual criminals.”
