Box Office: What I feared happened! ‘Ram Setu’ and ‘Thank God’ rolled out on Monday, ‘Kantara’ swallowed everyone up

The same thing happened on Monday at the box office, which was haunting. Both Bollywood films, ‘Ram Setu’ and ‘Thank God’, which released on the occasion of Diwali, have failed miserably in their first Monday test. The earnings of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Ram Setu’ have fallen by 82.66 percent after its first weekend as compared to the opening day, while Ajay Devgan and Sidharth Malhotra’s ‘Thank God’ has registered a decline of 80 percent. On the other hand, the Kannada film ‘Kantara’ continues to dominate. It has been 18 days since the film released in Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil, while it has been 32 days since it released in Kannada. ‘Kantara’ has collected a whopping Rs 5.32 crore on Monday, out of which the film has earned Rs 1.94 crore only from the Hindi version.

Rishabh Shetty’s Kantara, based on mythological tales, has collected Rs 233.97 crore nationwide in 32 days. It is worth noting here that the film, which was released in Hindi version on October 14, earned Rs 1.27 crore. Whereas on Monday, the 18th day, it has earned Rs 1.94 crore. That is, the grip of this film of Rishab Shetty is increasing among the Hindi audience. The film had earned Rs 4.1 crore on weekends and Rs 4.4 crore from Hindi version on Saturday and Sunday. The earning of this film is also being compared to KGF 2. This is because in many parts of the Hindi belt, this film is competing with the earnings of Yash’s blockbuster film. ‘Kantara’ has collected over Rs 296 crore worldwide in 32 days.

Kantara’s total earnings in the country in 32 days Rs 233.97 crore
total earning in hindi in 18 days 44.89 crores
Total earning in Kannada in 32 days Rs 143.43 crore
32 Days Worldwide Collection 296+ crores

‘Ram Setu’ earned only Rs 2.60 crore on Monday
On the other hand, Ram Setu, directed by Abhishek Sharma, has been rolling steadily since its release. ‘Ram Setu’ had collected Rs 15 crore on the first day. But despite the six-day extended first weekend and Diwali holiday, it did not win the hearts of the audience. The film’s earnings kept falling every day and it is now stuck at Rs 2.60 crore on Monday. The film has collected a total of Rs 58.25 crore in seven days. As the situation is, it seems that this film will not even be able to take out its budget of Rs 85 crores from the ticket window.

Fourth consecutive setback for Akshay Kumar in 2022
This is the fourth major setback of the year 2022 for Akshay Kumar. His last three films – Bachchan Pandey, Samrat Prithviraj and Raksha Bandhan also flopped badly. ‘Ram Setu’ is an adventure-drama film. The story is about the belief in Lord Rama and the existence of ‘Ram Setu’ built in his time. Akshay Kumar plays an atheist archaeologist in the film. In his research, he not only collects solid evidence related to Ram-Setu, but also starts believing in Lord Rama. Makers and Akshay Kumar himself were hopeful that perhaps this time he would be able to catch the pulse of the audience. But alas, once again this does not seem to be happening.

‘Thank God’ earns Rs 1.50 crore on Day 7
Amidst all this, Ajay Devgn and Siddharth Malhotra’s comedy film Thank God is the worst. On Monday, the 7th day of release, ‘Thank God’ has done a business of just Rs 1.50 crore. However, the condition of this film has been tight since the opening day itself. But like ‘Ram Setu’, the earnings of this film also kept falling every day. The budget of ‘Thank God’, directed by Indra Kumar, is being told to be Rs 70 crore. The film has earned Rs 28.25 crore in 7 days.
