From idol, spear to trishul – gifts received by PM Modi are ready for auction, money will be spent in Namami Gange

New Delhi. The gifts given by other politicians and sportspersons including CM Yogi Adityanath to Prime Minister Narendra Modi are going to be auctioned soon. More than 1000 gifted items will be auctioned and the proceeds will be spent in Namami Gange Mission. The auction will be conducted through the web portal and will end on October 2. This is the fourth edition of the e-auction of gifts received by PM Modi.

The e-auction to be held from September 17 to October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, includes around 1000 such gifts and mementos given to PM Modi by various personalities. The proceeds from this auction will be spent on the Namami Gange project.

At present, around 300 of these valuables are on display in a special exhibition at the National Gallery of Modern Arts in the national capital. The javelin, signed by Commonwealth Games 2022 bronze medalist Annu Rani, is listed at a base price of Rs 2.50 lakh, while the bid for a swimming cap autographed by the Indian men’s Paralympic team is to start at Rs 1.50 lakh. The bidding for T-shirts signed by the Commonwealth Games para athletes of the Powerlifting team starts at Rs 5 lakh.

A senior ministry official said the culture ministry has also planned a visit to the museum by specially-abled children to take inspiration from the sportspersons. We have decided to open section for special travel by specially abled children. There will be availability of sign language experts for them. This will act as an inspiration for them.

The collection up for auction also includes a chess set gifted to the PM from Chess Olympics in Chennai, with bids starting at Rs 55,000.
