New Delhi: Ayushmann Khurrana says his upcoming film ‘An Action Hero’ is different from his ‘social comedy’ genre. He hopes that the audience will accept him in a new genre film. There is a different kind of comedy in the film, in which Ayushmann will be seen doing action.

Ayushmann Khurrana plays the role of Manav in the film, an action hero who seeks to avenge the mysterious death of his brother named Bhura Solanki (Jaideep Ahlawat). The actor, known for films like “Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan”, “Badhaai Ho” and “Dream Girl”, said that “An Action Hero” is his first film which has no social message.

Ayushmann said during a media interaction, ‘I am changing my genre with this film. It is different from the social-comedy genre and has no message. Pure thrill. It is a roller coaster ride. The actor further said, ‘This film is about an extraordinary person. Vengeance is a normal thing, but if a superstar happens to be in that normal state, how does he deal with it, that’s the story.

‘Paatal Lok’ star Jaideep Ahlawat said that he liked the script of ‘An Action Hero’. He said, “You will not be able to tell who is the hero or the villain. Everyone has their own reason for doing things. I never thought of the character as a villain.

The film is directed by Anirudh Iyer, who previously worked as an assistant director in Aanand L Rai’s ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ and ‘Zero’. Neeraj Yadav has written the screenplay. Anirudh Iyer has said that the team did not see ‘An Action Hero’ as just an action hero, as there are many layers to the story. The director said, ‘It is more than an action film. It has action, thriller, comedy.

‘An Action Hero’ is set to release in theaters on December 2. When asked about Akshay Kumar’s guest appearance in the film, Ayushmann said, “There are some points in our film which we don’t want to reveal, but everyone we work with will be fun.”
