Did you know that Oscar-winning star Lupita Nyong’o-O, the Nakia of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s popular superhero film ‘Black Panther’, was once an intern on the sets of one of her desi Bollywood films? Can’t believe it, but this was revealed by Lupita himself during an exclusive conversation with Navbharat Times. Lupita will soon be seen in ‘Black Panther’ sequel ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’. In a special conversation in this regard, on the question of his association with Bollywood films, Lupita told that many years ago he was an intern in Karan Johar’s Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan starrer ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’. Have stayed
Internship was done in Shahrukh Khan’s film
When we asked Lupita, who won the Academy Award for her film ’12 Years a Slave’, does she have any idea about Indian cinema or Bollywood actors? Have you liked any Hindi film? So on this she chirped and said, ‘Oh my God, you will not believe it, but once I was an intern on the set of an Indian film, which was being shot in New York and the name of that film was Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. So I have not only seen an Indian film but have also been a part of its making. Though I wasn’t around for very long, I was a part of it for a long time.’ Not only this, in March this year, Lupita was also seen dancing to the song Where is the Party to Night from the same film in a designer lehenga by Indian designer Anita Dogra at a wedding in neighboring Pakistan. When asked about her experience, she says, ‘Oh yes, although then I did not know that this song is from the same film, but if seen, it is absolutely right for me to dance to that song.’
It was hard to imagine a movie without Chadwick
Here, Lupita also talks about the challenges and difficulties of getting a sequel without Hollywood star Chadwick Boseman, who garnered worldwide love as ‘Black Panther’. Chadwick Boseman died of cancer in the year 2020. Regarding doing the film without him, Lupita says, “It was hard to imagine a future for Wakanda without Chadwick Boseman, but who Robert Cole and Ryan Coogler were able to write a story that shows that we have lost them.” The story begins with the fact that we have lost T Chala forever. We are not pretending that we are not going through pain or suffering and it really helped a lot, because we were able to bring our pain into this story and it has an important place in the story. This story shows how big a loss we are going through and this story has come at a time when the whole world has gone through a very difficult period due to the pandemic. Everyone has gone through some kind of loss and this problem has become a global discussion. Everyone is talking about how you dealt with such a loss or the pain of losing someone and I hope this story will give hope to people as to how people move forward in such a situation.
No one is replacing Chadwick Boseman
But will fans accept someone else instead of Chadwick Boseman, who has become synonymous with Black Panther? Can they be replaced? To this question Lupita says, ‘I don’t think anyone is trying to replace him. This is the reason why we have not recast anyone in this character. Otherwise, in Black Panther tradition it has always been that these powers pass from person to person, so this time in our story, Black Panther’s powers will be with someone else, but no one can replace Chadwick or T’Challa. Stayed. The question remains, if the fans accept someone else as Black Panther, then that will be known when the film comes out, but we have made a very awesome film. When I heard the story, I was stunned how big a film it is. ‘Black Panther’ was also big, but it is bigger, it has adventure happening everywhere on land, in water and in the sky. It is a complete Marvel film.
