BENGALURU: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has said that Kannada film actor Puneeth Rajkumar will be posthumously honored with the ‘Karnataka Ratna’ award, on the occasion of ‘Karnataka Rajyotsava’, the state foundation day on November 1. Giving this information to journalists on Wednesday, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said, eight people have been honored with this award so far, but since 2009 it has not been given to anyone. The decision was taken in a meeting with Puneet Raj Kumar’s family members, ministers, senior officials.
The CM said that this award is being given in recognition of Puneet Raj Kumar’s contribution to Kannada film sector, Kannada language and culture. Bommai said- Puneeth Raj Kumar is a real Karnataka gem because during his life he had carved a different place in the hearts of people with his success. He has always remained a source of inspiration for the younger generation and will be given this award even after leaving this world for this purpose.

The award ceremony will be held on November 1 at 5 pm at Vidhana Soudha. Eminent litterateurs, people associated with the film industry, legislators and achievers will participate in this award function. Asked about the demand by Puneeth’s fans to organize a massive ceremony to pay tribute to the late actor, Bommai said that after the award ceremony on November 1, the 10-day event will be followed by three more ceremonies in Bengaluru. Will be organized in different parts.
