Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena has sent back the file of the proposal related to the Delhi government’s ‘Red Light on Car Off’ campaign to the Chief Minister’s Office. The Lieutenant Governor has raised many questions on this campaign. Along with this, the Chief Minister has been asked to reconsider the campaign. The Lieutenant Governor questioned the well-known campaign of the Delhi government that- ‘There is no evidence that air pollution can be controlled by running the campaign in this way. This campaign is playing with the health of the Civil Defense Volunteers.
Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena said that it is inhuman and exploitative to make Civil Defense Volunteers stand in the midst of excessive pollution and traffic. The Lieutenant Governor has written that in this campaign, Civil Defense Volunteers cannot be kept standing in the midst of pollution in this way. The Lieutenant Governor has directed the Revenue and Law Departments that both the departments should also investigate whether the Civil Defense Volunteers can be used in this manner during the campaign or not.
Volunteers are stationed at 100 intersections
Apart from this, while questioning this campaign, the Lieutenant Governor has written that the information about the effects seen through this campaign of the past years has not been given in the proposal. Let us tell you, for the last several years, at the end of the year, the Delhi government has been running the ‘Red Light on Vehicle Off Campaign’. Under this, more than 2000 civil defense volunteers are erected at 100 intersections of the capital. These volunteers make people aware to save fuel and reduce pollution caused by vehicles by turning off the vehicle at red light.
Delhi government and Lt Governor face to face
Recently, the Delhi government and the Lieutenant Governor have come face to face with this campaign. The Delhi government had accused the Lieutenant Governor’s office that the government was going to start this campaign from October, but this proposal was not approved by the Lieutenant Governor in time. That’s why this campaign hangs in the balance. However, Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena has also responded to these allegations of the Delhi government. He made it clear that he got the file related to this campaign from the Delhi government very late. After that, holidays are declared due to festivals, during which almost all the offices are closed.
Delhi government accused of lying
According to the Lieutenant Governor’s office, he received the file related to this campaign on October 22. The Lieutenant Governor also accused the Delhi government of saying that Environment Minister Gopal Rai and the Delhi government lied to the public that they want to start this campaign from October 28, while the proposal sent to the office mentioned that the campaign should be started. The date was written as 31 October.
