Mahindra will build charging stations in many cities, big announcement before electric car launch


New Delhi. Charge Plus Zone, a company that develops charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, and Mahindra & Mahindra have signed an agreement. This agreement has been done to establish a charging network in the country for electric SUV vehicles. Both the companies said in a statement that under the agreement, more than 2,500 fast charging DC chargers will be installed at many places. Also the possibilities of starting and maintaining will be explored.

Under this partnership, charging stations will be installed at the company’s place as well as at the rental places. Also any other location chosen by Mahindra and its subsidiaries and group companies will also be used. Mahindra recently showcased its electric car XUV400, which will be officially launched in January next year.

Mahindra will launch electric cars

Mahindra is looking at introducing its first all-electric model as the XUV400, but is also set to introduce more premium electric SUV models in the times to come. The XUV400 uses a 39.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The company claims that it can give a range of 450 km on a single charge. The special thing is that it can also accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 8.3 seconds.

Electric charger will be installed in many cities

Mahindra is all set to launch its electric car, but the support infrastructure for electric vehicles in the country is still not adequate. In this context, the partnership between Mahindra and Charge Plus Zone can prove to be important. Mahindra EVs will not only have access to Charge Plus Zone chargers across 25 cities, but the company is also exploring installation, commissioning and maintenance of fast DC chargers at multiple locations including rental sites.

Electric charger will be economical

Vijay Nakra, President, Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “Our partnership with Charge Plus Zone will ensure a robust EV infrastructure solution for all our customers. “We are working to bring sustainable, cost-effective and efficient EV solutions to accelerate the mass adoption of battery electric vehicles in India,” Nakra said.
