New Delhi: Bhagyashree became an overnight star with her debut film Maine Pyar Kiya. Critics along with the audience praised his innocence and brilliant acting. She was called the next big star of Bollywood, but she said goodbye to the film industry for love and married her lover Himalaya Dasani.

Bhagyashree had told in an interview to ‘Humans of Bombay’ that how she had met her lover Himalaya Dasani. Both used to study in the same school. Referring to school memories, Bhagyashree had said, ‘We used to go to school together. He was the most mischievous person in the class and I was the class monitor. We used to fight all the time. The more we fought, the more it became clear that we could not live without each other. We never dated each other. He told me on the last day of school how he felt about me. He said- I want to say something to you and he kept practicing to say his words for about a week, but he always shied away from saying it. I finally went to him and said- Look, tell him whatever it is. I am sure the answer will be positive and then he told me that he likes me.

Bhagyashree was born on 23 February 1969 in the Marathi royal family. His father has been the king of Sangli in Maharashtra. When Bhagyashree’s family came to know about her affair, they turned against her. Both had broken up for the sake of the family. The actress had told, ‘We were in college, but hardly used to meet or talk on the phone. When I told my parents, they said that we are too young to take such a decision. I started believing that if he really loved me, then we should go away for some time. He should know and try to understand whether I am the one he loves and then we can be together. So, we broke up and he went to study in America and then signed the film Maine Pyar Kiya. Somewhere Bhagyashree knew that they would meet again.

Bhagyashree took a difficult step for the sake of love
Bhagyashree’s parents did not allow her to meet Himalaya or talk on the phone. She then openly told her parents that seeing the Himalayas makes her happy and she would not be able to live without them. Bhagyashree tried to persuade her parents twice, but they did not agree. Bhagyashree understood that she would have to take a difficult step. She then told boyfriend Himalaya Dasani, ‘I am leaving my house, if you love me come pick me up’ and they were at my house within 15 minutes. We got married in a temple in the presence of Himalaya’s parents, Salman Khan, Sooraj Barjatya and some of our friends.
