Ranbir Kapoor Was Offered Star Wars: Ranbir Kapoor is currently riding high on the success of his latest film ‘Brahmastra Part One: Shiva’. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, ‘Estraverse’ is a fantasy drama inspired by the film’s mythology. While this is the first attempt at creating a superhero universe in Indian cinema, Ranbir was once offered another popular franchise: Star Wars. However, the actor turned it down as he was scared to audition.
In an old 2016 interview with Rajeev Masand, Ranbir shared that he was offered the role of the second lead in Star Wars. However, he turned down the offer. He said, “I was asked to audition as the second lead in Star Wars a few years ago. I am afraid to audition. It is more fear than not having that much confidence in my talent.”
Ranbir further said that although he was not interested in the offer, he would rather make his own Star Wars with Ayan Mukerji. He said, “Let’s make our own Star Wars. Don’t chase what is there. It’s great but I have an opportunity here and I don’t think Ayaan is any less than JJ Abrams or George Lucas. I like his Let’s work together and make your own Star Wars.”
