Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’ accused of copying the story, complaint filed

New Delhi: Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film ‘Jawan’ has been accused of copying the story of Tamil film ‘Perarasu’. A complaint has been filed against the filmmaker Atlee. According to media reports, filmmaker Manickam Narayanan has filed a complaint with the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) accusing the makers of ‘Jawan’ of copying the story.

‘Jawan’ will be released in June next year, which is currently shooting. Atlee is going to debut in Bollywood with ‘Jawan’. The film also stars Tamil actors Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Yogi Babu and Priyamani. If reports are to be believed, actors Vijay and Deepika Padukone will also make cameos in the film.

Now, a complaint has been filed against director Atlee in a producer council citing content theft. It has been alleged that the story of the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer is similar to Vijayakanth’s ‘Perarasu’, which released in 2006. A Times of India report said that producer Manickam Narayanan has filed a complaint against Atlee with the TFPC (Tamil Film Producers Council) that the stories of ‘Jawan’ and ‘Perarasu’ are similar.

The TFPC board members will investigate the complaint filed by Manickam Narayanan after November 7. Producer Manickam Narayanan reportedly holds the rights to the story. Vijayakanth played a double role of twin brothers in ‘Perarasu’. Reportedly, Shah Rukh Khan is also playing dual roles in ‘Jawan’.
