Swara Bhaskar supports Nadav Lapid’s statement on ‘The Kashmir Files’, gets trolled

New Delhi: Vivek Agnihotri’s film ‘The Kashmir Files’ is again making headlines after the controversial statement of 53rd IFFI jury head Nadav Lapid. The Israeli filmmaker described ‘The Kashmir Files’ as ‘vulgar’ and ‘propaganda’ at the closing ceremony of the film festival. The film’s lead actors Anupam Kher and Pallavi Joshi as well as director Vivek Agnihotri objected to his statement.

The controversy took a new turn when Nadav Lapid’s comment got support from Bollywood. Actress Swara Bhaskar has come forward in support of Nadav Lapid’s statement. He wrote on his Twitter handle, ‘Now apparently the world is very clear about it.’

As soon as Swara Bhaskar posted her tweet, netizens started trolling her. One user wrote, ‘Still better than the films of a failed actress who herself does propaganda.’ Another wrote, ‘Madam, worry about your career. The lifetime collection of all your films will not be that much. Another tweeted, ‘Focus on your work, what if you don’t get the payment.’

Anupam Kher’s reaction on ‘The Kashmir Files’ controversy
In one of his Twitter posts, Anupam Kher shared a series of pictures from famous American filmmaker Steven Spielberg’s film ‘Schindler’s List’ along with a picture from ‘The Kashmir Files’. The actor, who attended the special screening of the film at the 53rd IFFI on November 22, wrote, “No matter how big a lie is, it is always smaller than the truth.”

‘The Kashmir Files’ was released in cinemas on 11 March and was part of the Indian Panorama section at IFFI and was screened on 22 November. Written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri and produced by Zee Studios, the film depicts the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. The film also starred Darshan Kumar and Mithun Chakraborty.
