New Delhi: In the Hindi film industry, Kiran Bala Sachdev was known as Tabassum Govil, who died today due to cardiac arrest. According to media reports, he had a cardiac arrest on the evening of 18 November. He worked as a child artist in hit films like ‘Bahar’, ‘Nargis’ and ‘Deedar’ in the 40s and 50s.

The veteran actress was born on 9 July 1944. Apart from being an actress, talk show host and YouTuber, Tabassum also tried her hand at scriptwriting. He also directed a feature film ‘Tum Par Hum Kurbaan’.

Tabassum married Vijay Govil
According to media reports, Tabassum was born to Indian freedom fighter Ayodhya Nath Sachdev and Asgari Begum. Tabassum Govil, who grew up in Mumbai, married Vijay Govil, brother of Ram Arun Govil of Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ramayana’. The actress’ father named her Tabassum, while her mother named her Kiran Bala Sachdev.

Tabassum worked as a child artist
Tabassum started her film career as a child artist at the young age of just 3 years. In 1951, Tabassum played the character of Nargis in the film ‘Deedar’ directed by Nitin Bose.

Tabassum has also been the host of the first Indian television talk show ‘Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan’, which aired for almost 21 years from 1972 to 1993. He also worked as the editor of the Hindi magazine ‘Grihalakshmi’ for 15 years. Tabassum directed, produced and wrote ‘Tum Par Hum Kurbaan’ in 1985, in which he introduced Johnny Lever to the audience for the first time as a comedian.
