Panaji: Farmers continue to speak against the proposed IIT campus in Goa. Farmers on Monday protested against the proposed IIT campus in Goa, claiming that the state government was acquiring land for it without their consent. After farmers’ protest in Sangum area of ​​South Goa district, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that some people have a habit of unnecessarily opposing projects.

CM said – no injustice will be done to anyone
Talking to reporters in Panaji on Monday, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the land on which the IIT is proposed belongs to the government and he will ensure that no injustice is done to anyone due to the project. In fact, farmers protested after a team of state revenue officials went to Sangam to demarcate the land for the proposed IIT Goa campus. A team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Nilesh Rane tried to pacify the farmers, but their protest escalated.

Farmers said – we do not want IIT
In fact, these farmers are adamant on not giving their land for the proposed IIT. A woman farmer told the police that we are cultivating paddy at the place where the government wants to acquire land for the IIT Goa campus. We don’t want IIT. He claimed that the state government was acquiring land without the consent of the farmers who have been growing crops on it for generations. Some other protesters said they would not allow the demarcation process to continue at the site.

Case filed against farmers
At the same time, a senior police officer said that the Sangum police have registered a case against the protesting farmers for obstructing the land demarcation work. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sawant said that some people have a habit of unnecessarily opposing the projects. The land on which the IIT is proposed belongs to the government. He said that some people are just grabbing the land, he said that people should stay away from negative mindset. People should not face any kind of injustice. We will ensure this. The Chief Minister said that if anyone is a tenant or has any document to prove the ownership of (land), they can submit it to the District Collector.
