New DelhiMahesh Bhatt directed Aamir Khan in popular films early in his career, but the experience of working together in ‘Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi’ and ‘Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke’ was not the same, as they expected. In fact, Mahesh once criticized Aamir’s perfectionism and told how this thinking sometimes becomes a burden for a project.
According to media reports, Aamir Khan told in a new interview that he had rejected the offer of Mahesh Bhatt’s film. He recalled that it was a difficult phase in his career and during that time he got an offer from Mahesh Bhatt. He was initially relieved, as Mahesh Bhatt was a successful director after delivering hits like ‘Saaransh’, ‘Arth’ and ‘Naam’. Aamir had thought at that time that even if the film was announced, his 3-4 years would be settled and when the film would be made in 2 years, people would be eagerly waiting for the film.
Aamir Khan promised himself
Aamir further revealed that he went to Mahesh Bhatt’s house to listen to the story, but at the same time the actor promised himself that he would not do the film if he didn’t like the producer, director or the story. Aamir did not like the story and asked Mahesh Bhatt to give him a day to think about it. He then came home and discussed with Reena Dutta (Aamir’s ex-wife).
When Aamir Khan could not take any decision
Aamir knew that if he accepted Mahesh Bhatt’s story, it would be compromising his dream, but he also knew that if he said no, he would lose the opportunity. Aamir could not take any decision and the next day when he did not get any answer, he told the truth to the director.
Aamir Khan did not compromise with his dreams
The actor honestly said, ‘I told him that I cannot say yes to you, but who am I to say no? You are such a successful director, but I can only tell you my feeling that I cannot do this. Maybe after this you don’t give me work, but I’m sorry, I can’t do it. Aamir realized his power. He was happy to know that even in his weakest condition he had not compromised on his dreams.
