The film is all set for release. During this, the actress shared that she faced body shaming and was even rejected for a film due to her weight.
How is ‘Double XL’ written?
Huma told how the story of ‘Double XL’ came into existence. Huma said, “The film started as a fun conversation with my friends and family. We were all in my living room and all the actors were in ‘lockdown’. Later, he was complaining of ‘gaining weight’ and Mudassar Aziz wrote a story on it.”
‘We were just eating pizza and burgers’
The actress revealed that director Satram Ramani asked her to gain weight for ‘Double XL’, “We were just eating and eating. Between the action and the cut, just bring a burger, bring a pizza.” But how responsible is Bollywood for setting a benchmark for beauty standards, Huma blames society for making people believe that “a certain weight is acceptable.”
The actress was rejected due to obesity
The actress, who made her acting debut in 2012 with ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, revealed that she was rejected because of her weight in the past. Huma said, “I was rejected due to weight and in my review of the film, someone wrote, ‘Huma is too heavy to be a lead actress’.” The “Bell Bottom” actress believes that her film “Double XL” will change the mindset of the society. ‘Double XL’ also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Zaheer Iqbal and Mahat Raghavendra. It is all set to release on November 4.
