Actor Akshay Kumar, who worked with Rajinikanth, had called himself a fan of Rajinikanth’s acting. Sharing an anecdote related to the actor, Akshay told how Rajinikanth returned his money to the distributors after his film flopped.

In 2018, during the trailer launch of 2.0, Akshay Kumar had said, “Rajni sir is not a superstar, but he is a complete galaxy. In the industry, if anyone has swag, whether it is lighting a cigarette or wearing a coat in style, it is. Jalwa is only with Rajni sir. There is no person who doesn’t want to copy her style”. His film Baba had come and it did not do anything special, so he called the distributors and returned their money. This is the biggest proof of being a superstar”.

Rajinikanth’s film Baba was released in 2002. The film was produced by Rajinikanth’s banner Lotus International which was directed by Suresh Krishna. Apart from Rajinikanth, many stars like Manisha Koirala, Sujatha, Ashish Vidyarthi, Vijaykumar had worked in this film. This film is considered one of the biggest flop films of Rajinikanth’s career. According to the reports, the film was bought by the distributors for ₹ 17 crores, but they only made a profit of ₹ 3 crores.

Career started in 1975 Rajinikanth started his film career in 1975 with the Tamil film Apoorva Raagangal directed by late K Balachander. In 1983, he made his Bollywood debut with the film Andha Kanoon opposite Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini. Rajinikanth was seen in the Tamil film Annaatthe.
