Thank God: Filmmaker Deepak Mukut has been very busy this year. He released four films under his banner Soham Rockstar Films in the year 2022 and many more in the pipeline. Although some of Deepak Mukut’s films could not do any wonders at the box office and due to some films, controversy was also created. Recently in a freewheeling chat with Hindustan Times, the filmmaker opened up about the poor performance of the film ‘Thank God’ at the box office.

While talking about the expectations from ‘Thank God’, Deepak says, “We expected the film to do above average business. I always knew it wouldn’t be a blockbuster, but it was a good film, a clean comedy film with the power to captivate the audience in my mind. That’s why we expected the film to pull the family audience to the theatres.
Was embroiled in controversies before release ,thank god
‘Thank God’ was embroiled in controversies before its release. Many people had also filed a case against it in the court that the film has hurt their sentiments. Ajay played the role of Chitragupta in the film, and it was not liked by a section of the audience. On this Deepak says, “Cinema is very subjective. It is possible that if one’s choice may not be liked by the other, then it is like this. People see things differently. I don’t think there was any problem in the film.” . I think we made a good, clean comedy but some people had a different opinion and that’s okay.”
Did the controversy affect the performance of the film?
But do such controversies affect the performance at the box office? Deepak has a two-pronged opinion on this. He says “It’s the content of the film that either works or not. That’s what matters so these controversies affect but not much. Yes, there is some effect because one says something and people who think like him They are affected by it. Then these reactions can multiply manifold.”

Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra starrer ‘Thank God’ was Deepak Mukut’s latest release this year. The film was released a day after Diwali, clashing with Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu. Although the film got mixed reviews and its opening collection was less than average. In nine days of its release, ‘Thank God’ has earned only Rs 33 crores across the country.
