IPS Alok Raj is now handling the responsibility of the police system of Bihar, one of the most talked about states of the country. He became an IPS in the year 1989. After becoming an officer, his first posting was as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Patna City. During this time, IPS Alok Raj was awarded the Police Gallantry Medal for killing four dangerous criminals in an encounter with them.

Alok Raj, a resident of Muzaffarpur, has achieved unique achievements in his life. He won a gold medal while studying MSc in Geology from Patna University. He was awarded the President’s Medal three times for his excellent police career. Alok Raj was awarded the Police Gallantry Medal in the year 1994, the Commendable Service Medal in the year 2008 and the Distinguished Service Medal in the year 2016. His extraordinary contribution has included him in the category of prestigious police officers of the country.

IPS Raj has worked as SP in many districts. He has been posted in Ranchi, Gumla, West Singhbhum, Deoghar, Hazaribagh, Sitamarhi etc. districts of the then undivided Bihar. He worked in the Central Reserve Police Force from 2004 to 2011. During this period, he was awarded the commendation disc four times.

Not only this, Alok Raj also participated in the high level training of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Italy, which also earned him recognition at the international level. After returning to Bihar, he has played important roles as ADG of the state’s Special Branch, CID and Law and Order. Apart from this, IPS Raj has also handled the responsibility of Director General of Bihar Special Armed Police, Training, and Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation.
