Actor-cricketer Salil Ankola’s life and career have been such that a film and web series can be made on it. His impressive performance caught the attention of the national selectors and he was soon included in the Indian team, where he made his debut against Pakistan along with Sachin Tendulkar. This was also Sachin’s debut match.

He made his ODI debut just a month later. Though his Test career was short, he remained in the ODI team for the next eight years, even participating in the 1996 World Cup. During his career, Ankola took 13 wickets in 20 ODIs and 2 wickets in his only Test match. By 1997, he was out of the national team and retired from cricket at the age of 28.
