In a conversation with Cyrus Broacha on Housing.com YouTube channel, Soha revealed that her mother keeps a complete account of the expenses incurred in Pataudi Palace. She revealed that the management of Pataudi Palace is mainly with her mother and why she gets the mansion whitewashed instead of painted. Soha said that her mother ensures that all the work is done properly and every day’s expenses are accounted for. Sharmila Tagore keeps a record of every penny.
Why do you get the Pataudi Palace painted?
Soha Ali Khan also told that Sharmila Tagore gets the Pataudi Palace whitewashed instead of painted. One reason for this is that this work is less expensive. Not only this, she also told that nothing new has been added to the Pataudi Palace for many years because she likes the architecture and carvings here and she does not want any tampering with it.
Why could Soha not become a princess?
According to the history of Pataudi Palace, Soha’s grandmother i.e. Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi’s mother was the Begum of Bhopal and grandfather was a Nawab. In 1970, Saif Ali Khan, son of Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Sharmila Tagore was born and he was made the prince here. Soha was born in 1978, but by then the Royal Tigers were over, so she could not become a princess again.
Why was Pataudi Palace built
Soha Ali Khan revealed the reason behind this and said that her grandmother and grandfather were not able to get married, the reason behind which was her grandmother’s father. In such a situation, Soha’s grandfather built Pataudi Palace to impress her grandmother’s father. She told that her grandmother’s father was jealous of her grandfather because he was a good sportsman. But, while building Pataudi Palace, her grandfather’s money got exhausted. In such a situation, instead of getting marble work done on the floor, a lot of cement work was done and carpets were laid on top.
