This story was related to his first song. Year 1948, the film ‘Ziddi’ came. The songs were superhit. Lata Mangeshkar sang songs for Kamini Kaushal, a renowned actress of that era. The film was well liked. In fact, at that time the singer’s name was not included on the disc and Lata Mangeshkar’s name was also not included on the disc. But, there was some other name in his place. The story goes like this that the name on the disc was not of Lata Mangeshkar but of Asha. Asha means not his younger sister, the name of Kamini Kaushal’s character in that film. The music company printed the name Asha only. That era was such that the names of actresses and actors were known, but singers were not given credit. Then it happened that the song was played a lot, people liked it and as a singer, Kamini Kaushal started getting a lot of love from the people.

He auditioned Lata Mangeshkar for a song in this film and he did not like her voice because he felt that Lata’s voice was very thin. Then he rejected them. Then Dilip Kumar advised Lata ji to learn Urdu and she also worked hard on it.

Lata Mangeshkar sang more than 50 thousand songs

Lata Mangeshkar has the record of singing more than 50 thousand songs in her account. He has sung so many songs in 141 different languages. He started his singing career at the age of just 13. Lata ji herself had said that she did not listen to the songs she sang because she saw hundreds of shortcomings in the songs she sang. She kept naming Madan Mohan as her favorite music director.

Received National Award thrice

Lata Mangeshkar received the National Award thrice for her excellent singing. In his 80 years long career, he sang more than 50 thousand songs in 36 languages. He was also awarded with honors like Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan. This is the reason why his name is recorded in the ‘Guinness Book of World Records’.
