Mumbai. Akkineni Nageswara Rao, who was the leader of the country’s second largest film industry built in Hyderabad, would have been celebrating his 100th birthday if he were among us today. In his 91 years of happy life, Akkineni has worked in more than 270 films. On Akkineni’s 100th birth anniversary, some of his films will be shown across the country. Amitabh Bachchan has given this information by sharing a post on his Instagram.
Akkineni Nageswara Rao was in Amitabh Bachchan’s photo. He wrote in the caption, ‘I am happy that the Film Heritage Foundation is celebrating the 100th birth anniversary of the legend of the Indian film industry, late Akkineni Nageswara Rao and some of his films are being released all over India. My best wishes.’ The Film Heritage Foundation of India (FHF) will celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of Akkineni Nageswara Rao with a nationwide film festival.
Did 250 films in 7 decades
The late actor is known for his versatility and worked in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi language cinema industries with a career spanning over seven decades and 270 films. He was born on 20 September 1924 in Rampuram in Krishna district of present-day Andhra Pradesh to a farmer family and was the youngest of five brothers. His formal education was limited to primary schooling due to the poor financial condition of his parents. He started working in theatre at the age of 10. He mastered playing female characters in theatre, as women were forbidden from acting at that time.
