Rajasthani singer dies at the age of 49, got recognition from Coke Studio – Hindustan News Hub

Rajasthani folk singer Mange Khan, famous for his melodious voice as the lead singer of Amras Records band Barmer Boys, died on Wednesday. Mange Khan was 49 years old. He was reportedly suffering from heart disease and recently underwent bypass surgery. The musician is survived by his wife and three children. Known for songs like ‘Bole To Mitho Lage’, ‘Amarano’, ‘Ranaji’ and ‘Peer Jalani’ with fellow band members Sawai Khan and Magda Khan, Khan earned a lot of fame for his singing in the country and abroad.

Performed in different parts of the world

He used to perform in many countries like Denmark, United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland and Italy in different parts of the world. Ashutosh Sharma, Founder of Amras Records said, ‘Mange’s departure has created a void that cannot be filled. He was a dear friend and a wonderful human being who had an extraordinary voice. His tragic demise at such a young age is a huge loss not only for his family and us but also for the music world. A voice that can never be replaced.’

The conversation happened on the way to the hospital

Ashutosh Sharma told that he had talked to Mange Khan on the way to the hospital and the singer told him, ‘Health is good, meet me after the operation.’ Sharma told that he met Khan in the year 2010. Both of them met in a village in Rajasthan. This is where their friendship started. Actually, Sharma had come to record Rukma Bai’s song. Khan was his neighbor and accompanied him on harmonium. After completing the recording of Rukma Bai’s songs, Khan also expressed his desire to record her songs.

This is how the demand started

Ashutosh Sharma said, ‘We were overwhelmed by his voice and singing style. That evening we recorded our first two songs with Mange, ‘Challa Challa’ and ‘Peer Jalani’, which were recreated by Coke Studio.’ Barmer Boys started with a performance at Siri Fort in Delhi in 2011. Since then, both have been working together continuously.
