Hindi poet, writer, screenwriter and lyricist of Indian cinema Prasoon Joshi has written many superhit songs for films like ‘Taare Zameen Par’, ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Hum Tum’ and ‘Fanaa’. Prasoon has received the Filmfare Award for Best Lyricist three times in 2007, 2008 and 2014 for the Hindi film ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’. Prasoon Joshi is celebrating his 53rd birthday today on 16 September. Hindi poet, writer, screenwriter and lyricist of Indian cinema Prasoon Joshi needs no introduction. He has created a distinct identity in the world on the basis of his ability. The famous poet is today the Chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification.

Received Filmfare Best Lyricist Award thrice

Prasoon is a popular personality in the film industry and more than Bollywood, poetry lovers across the country love him very much. There are many facets to his personality. He is known all over the world as a talented artist and is also known as a great screenwriter. With his skill and enthusiasm towards poetry and art, he made a mark in the industry. He was appointed as the Chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification on 11 August 2017. Prasoon Joshi has received the Filmfare Best Lyricist Award three times in 2007, 2008 and again in 2014 for the Hindi film ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’. He has also received the National Film Award for Best Lyricist twice for his work in ‘Taare Zameen Par’ (2007) and ‘Chittagong’ (2013).

Prasoon Joshi started writing at a very young age and published his first book ‘Main Aur Woh’ and ‘Khud Se Baatkar’ at the age of 17. After this, two more books ‘Dard So Raha Hai’ and ‘Samadhan’ made him famous as a writer. Prasoon started his career as a film lyricist with Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Lajja’ and after this he wrote excellent dialogues and songs for many very successful Bollywood films like Yash Chopra’s ‘Hum Tum’, ‘Fanaa’, ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Taare Zameen Par’, ‘Black’ and ‘Delhi 6’. At the same time, he got tremendous name fame from Aamir Khan’s superhit film ‘Fanaa’ and ‘Rang De Basanti’.
