‘Tumbaad’ beats Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Ghilli’, earns huge amount on re-release – Hindustan News Hub

On its eleventh day at the Indian box office, Sohum Shah’s ‘Tumbbad’ has surpassed ‘Ghilli’ to become India’s highest-grossing film during its re-release. Directed by Rahi Anil Barve and starring Sohum Shah, ‘Tumbbad’ had a poor opening at the theatres but has since made a strong comeback. The film’s re-release has grossed over Rs 20 crore after its second week. It has now become the highest-grossing re-release in the country, surpassing Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Ghilli’ which was a huge hit of the 2000s.

Tumbbad rocked the re-release

Having grossed Rs 33 crore and continuing its good run in the second week, ‘Tumbbad’ is on its way to gross Rs 45 crore. The director is planning to re-release the film worldwide, which could see a huge increase in the film’s success and collections. ‘Tumbbad’ grossed Rs 12 crore in its initial run and this time on re-release, it has more than doubled its box office collection, which shows its tremendous success. Similarly, there was another film which was the highest grossing film of its time.

Collection of re-released movies in India

Many such films have been re-released in India, which have earned the highest. Many records have also been made by earning a lot at the box office. ‘Tumbaad’ is at the top of this list, which has earned Rs 26.5 crore in just 10 days, which is equal to the total earnings of the film ‘Ghilli’. ‘Titanic’ is at second place with Rs 18 crore while ‘Sholay’ has earned Rs 13 crore in 3D. Romantic drama ‘Laila Majnu’ earned Rs 11.5 crore in 45 days, which is equal to the profit of ‘Rockstar’. The last name in this list is also one of the best Hollywood films ‘Avatar’, which collected a total of Rs 10 crore.
