Before Diwali, PM Modi gave a gift to the health sector, inaugurated projects worth Rs 12855 crore.

Ahead of Diwali, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (October 29) unveiled projects worth over Rs 5502 crore under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at the All India Institute of Ayurveda, Rs 5187 crore under the Department of Pharmaceuticals under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Labor and Inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 1641 crore under ESIC under the Ministry of Employment and Rs 525.14 crore under the Ministry of AYUSH.

Prime Minister expanded health coverage to citizens aged 70 years and above under AB-PMJAY, costing Rs 3437 crore. Now every senior citizen of the country aged 70 years and above will get free treatment through AYUSH Via Vandana Card.

New steps towards health

The Prime Minister unveiled a comprehensive five-pillar health policy focused on preventive care and accessibility. He reiterated his commitment to add 75 thousand new MBBS and MD seats to meet the increasing demand.

Inauguration and foundation stone laying of projects

The Prime Minister also announced the second phase of India’s first All India Institute of Ayurveda in New Delhi, the Central Drugs Testing Laboratory in Bhubaneswar in Odisha, three government medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh, five projects under the PLI scheme for medical devices and medicines, four projects for AYUSH Inaugurated several projects at centers and various AIIMS. He also inaugurated ESIC Hospital in Indore.

The Prime Minister inaugurated five Nursing Colleges in Madhya Pradesh, 21 Critical Care Blocks under PM-ABHIM in five States, two Yoga and Naturopathy Institutes in Odisha and Chhattisgarh, upgradation projects at AIIMS New Delhi and Bilaspur, 06 ESI Hospitals in five States and Laid the foundation stone of four centers of excellence in Nippers.

The Prime Minister launched the U-WIN portal to digitize vaccination services for pregnant women and children, which will increase access to health services.
