Breast Cancer: October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. This cancer is very dangerous and fatal. Breast cancer in 20 year old girls
According to research published in JAMA Network Open, breast cancer is spreading rapidly in women aged 20 to 49 years in the US. The research team analyzed data from more than 217,000 American women suffering from breast cancer from 2000 to 2019. In 2000, the incidence of breast cancer among women aged 20 to 49 was about 64 cases per 100,000 people.
In the next 16 years, this rate increased to about 0.24% annually. Till 2016, there were 66 cases of breast cancer out of every 1 lakh, but after that it increased significantly. Suddenly this rate increased to 3.76% per annum. By 2019, that is, in just three years, this rate reached 74 per 1 lakh.
Black women have higher risk of breast cancer
The risk of breast cancer has increased in women under the age of 50 over the past two decades, according to a study led by researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. An interesting aspect of the data has also come to light that the risk of breast cancer is much higher in black women. Especially black women aged 20 to 29 have a 53% higher risk of breast cancer compared to others.

Breast cancer situation in India
In the year 2018, a total of 1,62,468 cases of breast cancer were reported in India. Of these, 87,090 female victims died. The survival rate from breast cancer in India is 60%, which is 20% less than America. Breast cancer in the country is increasing rapidly not only in cities but also in rural areas. Even in India, young women are falling prey to this cancer. Due to delay in treatment the risk of death is also increasing. The biggest reasons for the increase of this cancer are tobacco, alcohol, obesity, wrong lifestyle and pollution.
