Sitaram Yechury’s body was donated for education and research, how is the last rites performed in such cases

Sitaram Yechury, a prominent Marxist Communist leader of Indian politics, breathed his last in the ICU of AIIMS at 3:05 pm on 12 September 2024. He was 72 years old. He was ill for a long time. It is being told that he was suffering from a serious chest infection. Due to which he was admitted to AIIMS on 19 August 2024 due to pneumonia.

Sitaram Yechury’s family will donate his body

Sitaram Yechury’s family has taken an important decision. That is, his family has donated his body to AIIMS, New Delhi for the purposes of education and research, so that his legacy will go beyond his political contribution. Sitaram Yechury’s body has been donated to AIIMS for the purpose of education and research, but because his family, party and loved ones want to pay tribute to Sitaram Yechury, his body will be kept for tribute at the office on September 14 from 11 am to 3 pm, after which it will be handed back to AIIMS.

AIIMS is doing the process of preserving the dead body

After the death of Sitaram Yechury, his body has been donated to AIIMS as per the wishes of his family and his body, therefore AIIMS is completing the process of preserving his dead body. AIIMS Professor Incharge – Media Dr. Reema Dada has given this information to Hindustan News Hub News that after his death, the body was taken to the Department of Anatomy. (Anatomy Department is the department where the structure of the body and the interrelationship of its various organs is studied.)

Where the dead body is being “embalmed”, the fluids of the dead body are removed and replaced with a special chemical solution, which prevents the body from decaying and preserves it for a long time. After preserving the body, it will be handed over to the family for tribute.

The body will be used for education and research

AIIMS officials say that the step taken by Sitaram Yechury and his family to donate his body to the institute is commendable. This decision was termed as a noble decision. Let us tell you that first year MBBS students who are from pre-clinical subjects are made to study anatomy on dead bodies. Apart from this, surgeons of orthopedics, neurosurgery, ENT surgery practice on these dead bodies.
