The Union Cabinet today (August 28) has approved the establishment of 12 industrial smart cities across the country. This will provide employment to about 10 lakh people. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed about the decision taken in the Union Cabinet meeting that the Union Cabinet today approved 12 industrial smart cities under the National Industrial Corridor Development Program. An investment of Rs 28,602 crore will be made on this scheme.
Vaishnav said that the proposed 12 smart industrial cities will generate investment possibilities of about Rs 1.52 lakh crore. He said that the cabinet has also approved a hydroelectric project in the Northeast with a share capital of Rs 4,136 crore. Apart from this, three important railway projects have also received cabinet approval.
