4 crore cash, 10 weapons seized during NIA raid in Bihar; JDU’s former MLC also in custody

The NIA on Thursday conducted simultaneous raids at five places in Bihar in connection with the Maoist alliance and the revival of the Naxalite organization in the Magadh region. Raids were also conducted at the residence of former JDU MLC Manorama Devi. 4 crore cash and weapons and other things have been recovered from these locations.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connivance with Naxalite organizations raided five places in Gaya and Bhabua in Bihar on Thursday. During this, former JDU MLC Manorama Devi was also arrested. So much cash was found from Manorama’s house that a machine had to be brought to count it. According to the NIA press release issued late in the evening, during the raids from all the places, Rs 4 crore 3 lakh in cash, 10 different types of weapons, many types of documents, pen drives, mobiles, tabs, laptops and many other digital devices were also seized. The raid at Manorama’s residence lasted for about 20 hours from 4 am to 11:58 pm.

According to sources, NIA raided the former MLC’s residence and other places in connection with the case of providing illegal arms, cartridges and resources to Naxalite organizations. There is also another place related to him in Gaya, where raids were conducted. The office of Simran Travels located in Goitha village of Banke Bazar in Gaya and the residence of its owner were also raided. Its owner is Dwarika Yadav. A large number of documents were checked here. Dwarika is also said to have old ties with Naxalites. His vehicle was used by Naxalites many times. Along with this, his role in financial help to Naxalites has also been important.

In this case, a raid was also conducted at Ruchika Printers located in Bhabua city. Computers, pen drives, printing machines, papers and other material were examined and their samples were seized. It is being said that provocative material including Naxalite literature was printed in this press.

In a massive raid conducted by the NIA on Thursday in connection with the reorganisation of the CPI (Maoist) Magadh Zone, a huge amount of arms, cash and digital equipment and documents were recovered from Bihar. Giving clarification on the seized cash, Manorama Devi said that the money belongs to her company. The company has taken a loan from the bank. Our CA will give specific information about this and the items seized belong to the private guard.

Manorama Devi and son Rocky interrogated

A five-member team led by NIA DSP Ajay Pratap Singh raided Manorama Devi’s house. According to sources, the investigating agency questioned the former MLC and his son Rocky Yadav. During the raid, Manorama Devi, Rocky, government guards and house servants were present at his house. His younger son Jackie is in Delhi. During this time, no one was allowed to go inside the house. The entire residence was cordoned off.

Let us tell you that the investigating agency had registered a case related to Naxal activities on 26 September last year. Since then, continuous action is being taken. Earlier, an FIR was registered on 7 August 2023 in Goh police station of Aurangabad regarding a major Naxal incident. Many other serious sections including anti-national activity were imposed in it.

In the FIR lodged in Goh police station, 20 named and other unknown people were made accused. These include Pramod Miksa, Anil Yadav, Srinivas alias Master, Ajit Da, Vivek and other prominent Naxalite leaders. In this case, NIA filed a chargesheet against Naxalites Rohit and Pramod in February this year. Both are accused of trying to revive the Naxalite organization in Magadh region.
