Anil Chauhan is originally from Pauri district of Uttarakhand, he was born on May 18, 1961.
During his service in Jammu and Kashmir, Anil Chauhan had conducted a special operation against terrorists.
New Delhi. Lt Gen Anil Chauhan has been appointed as the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS). According to the Ministry of Defense, he will serve as the Chief of the three Services as well as the Secretary of the Department related to Military Affairs of the Government of India. In fact, after the death of former CDS General Bipin Rawat in a helicopter crash, this biggest military post of the country was vacant for 9 months, whose responsibility has now been entrusted to retired Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan.
Let us tell you, Anil Chauhan is originally from Pauri district of Uttarakhand. He was born on May 18, 1961. Anil Chauhan retired from the army on 31 May 2021 after 40 years of service after being commissioned into 11 Gurkhas of the Indian Army in 1981. During his tenure of 40 years, he has excellent experience of counter operations in Jammu and Kashmir and North Eastern states. Also, after becoming a Major General, he did a great job by commanding the Infantry Division of Baramulla. As a Lieutenant General, Anil Chauhan took the responsibility of Eastern Army Commander and from there he retired from the army.
Special campaign launched against militants and terrorists
During Anil Chauhan’s tenure as General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, there was a major reduction in militancy in the Northeast region. It is said that Anil Chauhan has excellent experience in conducting operations against extremism. Anil Chauhan has also been a military observer in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Angola. Apart from this, during his service in Jammu and Kashmir, Anil Chauhan also conducted a special campaign against terrorists. It is said that Anil Chauhan has a lot of experience in carrying out the biggest operation against terrorists.

Apart from this, Anil Chauhan also held the post of Director General Military Operations (DGMO). As a DGMO, he had led Operation Sunrise, under which Indian and Myanmar forces conducted a coordinated operation against the insurgents near the borders of the two countries. At the same time, Anil Chauhan was also associated with the plan of surgical strike in Balakot. Apart from this, the soldiers have done a great job on the India-China border under his leadership. Anil Chauhan has been awarded Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal for his excellent work.
