According to a police officer, during the search operation in the area, the terrorists opened fire on the security forces, after which an encounter started between them. He said that the security forces had surrounded the area from all sides and in the encounter that took place in the morning, they killed three terrorists.
Efforts are being made to identify the terrorists and also to find out which organisation they were associated with.
Earlier, two soldiers were martyred and two others were injured in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Chhatru area of ​​Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. The army said that based on specific information, the security forces started a cordon and search operation in Naidgham area of ​​Chhatru area. During this, when the security forces were moving towards a certain area, the terrorists hiding there opened fire on them. After this, the security forces opened fire in retaliation.
“An exchange of fire took place between search teams of security forces and holed up militants in the Pingnal Dugadda forest area in the upper reaches of Naidgham village in Chatroo area,” the army said. Two jawans were killed and two injured during the exchange of fire, it said.
The General-Officer-Commanding (GOC) of the White Knight Corps and all ranks saluted the supreme sacrifice of the bravehearts and expressed their deepest condolences to the families of the victims. Earlier, the White Knight Corps had said that based on intelligence inputs, a joint operation was launched with the Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Chatru area of ​​Kishtwar and during this, an encounter took place with the terrorists.
