A lawyer fainted in the court room during the debate, the judge gave him CPR and then took him to the hospital himself

Recently, a judge of Nagpur district court did something that is being discussed in the city and in the legal world. It so happened that on Saturday (17 August) a case was being debated in the court of Judge SB Pawar, during which 65-year-old senior lawyer Talat Iqbal Qureshi was waiting for his case to come. Then senior lawyer Qureshi’s health deteriorated and he fell on the ground. Judge Pawar, who was hearing some other case at that time, suddenly got up from his chair on seeing this and immediately went downstairs.

Judge Pawar immediately tried to give CPR to Qureshi but it did not seem to have any effect on Qureshi. Meanwhile, another lawyer contacted former secretary of Nagpur District Bar Association and advocate Nitin Deshmukh and requested him for medical help. By the time Deshmukh reached the courtroom, Qureshi was still unconscious. Immediately after this, Judge Pawar and Deshmukh immediately took Qureshi to the hospital but by then it was too late.

“As soon as we reached the hospital, he was taken to the ICU but was declared dead there,” Deshmukh said, according to a Bar & Bench report. However, when they reached the hospital, Qureshi had no pulse. A review of Qureshi’s medical records later revealed that he had been feeling unwell for a few days.

According to Deshmukh, Qureshi had taken Eno some time ago because he felt that he had some problem like acidity. However, just two days before this incident, a doctor had advised Qureshi to get an ECG done, but Qureshi did not do so. In fact, on Saturday, senior lawyer Qureshi suffered a heart attack in the courtroom, in which he died. The legal community of Nagpur is very saddened by the untimely death of the senior lawyer.
