After the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, the atmosphere in Bengal is quite heated. People are very angry with the Mamata Banerjee government. Now Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee has given important advice to the party leaders. In this, he has said that do not talk to the medical field and the common people in a wrong way. Abhishek has said this in a post on the social media site X. It is worth noting that TMC leaders have made some controversial statements. The husband of a councilor even said that the Chief Minister has asked us to keep hissing from time to time. However, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has denied that any such guideline has been given by her.
Abhishek, MP from Diamond Harbour, has written on Instagram that all the people associated with the party should be polite and sympathetic. I appeal to all the people of TeamAC not to say wrong things to the medical fraternity and the common people. He said that everyone has the right to protest and express their views. Abhishek Banerjee further said that this is what differentiates West Bengal from BJP-ruled states. It is worth noting that on Sunday, Atish Sarkar, the husband of a TMC councilor from Howrah, made indecent remarks on the protesters. He had said in a local meeting that I will make dirty pictures of your mother and sisters and hang them on the door of your house. You will not be able to leave your house. Not only this, Atish Sarkar further said that remember, our Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has advised us to keep hissing from time to time. If we start hissing, you people will not be able to come out of your houses. After the video went viral, TeamAC has suspended Atish Sarkar from the party.
Similarly, four-time MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, who is also a medical practitioner, has apologized. Recently, she had commented on women doctors. She was participating in a panel discussion after the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College. At that time, the MP claimed that in our time, girls studying medicine used to get passing marks by sitting on the lap of the doctor teachers. She also said that those who protested used to get less marks. Ghosh further said that she had not imagined that this trend would become so dangerous in the future.
Similarly, actress-turned-politician TMC MLA Kanchan Malik had raised the question whether the protesting junior doctors will not take their salary and bonus. At the same time, in a video that went viral on Sunday, state government minister Udayan Guha is saying that some political parties are doing politics on the incident by doing RG. If they do sting once, we will do it five times. If they hurt once, we will attack with five times more force. Trinamool’s Bankura MP Arup Chakraborty said that once the party workers stand up and start hissing, the protesters and those misleading them will run away like dogs.
