ACB interrogates MLA Akhilesh Pati Tripathi for 10 hours, summons another AAP MLA

Delhi MCD Polls 2022: The ACB on Thursday questioned AAP MLA Akhilesh Pati Tripathi in the matter of taking bribe in lieu of giving election ticket. Tripathi was released by the ACB after 10 hours of questioning. If needed, they will be called for questioning again. Another Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Rajesh Gupta has been called to the ACB office for questioning at 11 am on Friday (November 18).

Akhilesh Pati Tripathi, after reaching the ACB office, said on Thursday that the person (Gopal Khari) himself is involved as a middleman and has at least 50 cases registered against him. I do not consider it necessary to speak against such people. The law will take its course.

AAP MLA dismissed the allegations

AAP MLA Tripathi alleged that Gopal Khari was blackmailing a director level officer of DDA, he has also beaten up his relatives. On telling Om Singh, arrested in this case, as his brother-in-law, Akhilesh’s husband Tripathi said that he is not my relative, my wife’s surname is Pandey. The AAP MLA has rejected all the allegations.

ACB arrested three people

The ACB on Tuesday arrested three people for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 90 lakh to get the wife of an AAP worker a ticket for the municipal elections. Among them, a person named Om Singh is also being told as the brother-in-law of Akhilesh’s husband Tripathi. This alleged case of bribery came to the fore on Monday when a person named Gopal Khari reached the ACB with his complaint.

Khari had claimed that he is an active worker of AAP since 2014. The ACB had told that Khari had met Model Town MLA Akhilesh Pati Tripathi on Wednesday and requested him to get AAP ticket for the councilor election from Ward No. 69 of Kamla Nagar for his wife. According to the ACB, Tripathi had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 90 lakh in exchange for the ticket, after which Khari paid him Rs 35 lakh.

However, Khari’s name did not figure in the list of candidates released by AAP on Sunday. The complainant has also presented audio-video recording of the alleged conversation that took place during the payment and withdrawal of the bribe amount. ACB said that investigation is being done to ascertain the entire matter and collect evidence.
